Publishing AI-generated or imported layouts to a live client site makes people nervous — rightly so. A single misclick should not replace a homepage that took six months to rank. MakeMerge defaults to caution: drafts first, backups before every push, and rollback when something looks wrong.
Drafts by default
Every page pushed to WordPress arrives as a draft. Your team reviews in wp-admin, runs QA on forms and links, and publishes on schedule. Production URLs stay untouched until someone deliberately publishes.
Nothing is deleted or overwritten on the WordPress site without an explicit backup step. Existing posts, products, and plugin data remain. MakeMerge adds or updates the pages you chose — it does not wipe the database.
Three-step publish confirmation
When you are ready to go live from MakeMerge, you confirm the target site, the page list, and the final publish action. That friction is intentional. Agencies tell us the confirmation dialog has prevented more than one late-night mistake.
Rollback when you need it
Before each push, MakeMerge triggers a backup on the WordPress side. If a client rejects the new hero or a form breaks, roll back to the previous version from the MakeMerge dashboard without digging through hosting panels. You stay in control of production — not the other way around.
